Nvidia has officially retired its legacy GeForce Experience app with the release of its latest driver update, Version 566.36. The new Nvidia app now takes its place, marking a major shift in how users interact with their GPUs.
A Unified Experience
The Nvidia app consolidates all GPU-related controls into one streamlined interface, replacing both GeForce Experience and the Nvidia Control Panel. While the company has been developing the app since early 2024, it officially exited beta on November 12 and is now the central hub for managing Nvidia GPU features.
This app allows users to:
- Launch games and update drivers seamlessly.
- Customize global and per-app graphics settings.
- Access Nvidia services like GeForce Now, Nvidia Broadcast, and Nvidia Canvas from the Home tab.
Although most system settings have transitioned to the app, advanced features such as Nvidia Surround are still exclusive to the Control Panel. For now, users are advised to keep the old Control Panel installed.
Enhanced Functionality and Features
With the Nvidia app, pressing Alt + Z brings up an updated overlay, replacing the old menu bar with a sleek sidebar. Key features include:
- Record and Screenshot Options: Capture gaming moments with ease.
- 120 FPS AV1 Recording: Enjoy ultra-smooth and high-quality screen captures.
- Instant Replay and Photo Mode: Relive your highlights with advanced tools.
What’s more, the app eliminates the requirement for an Nvidia account, offering users a privacy-friendly option while still enabling automatic driver updates.
A Faster, More Modern Interface
Compared to its predecessor, the Nvidia app is faster to install and load, with all customization tools located in a single window. It provides a more intuitive and modern experience, moving away from the dated interface of the Nvidia Control Panel.
As Nvidia gradually phases out the Control Panel, users can expect even greater integration of features into this unified platform.
